Kids Café
We're serving up dinner and a smile!
Kids Café is a daily hot meal program for children at the Boys and Girls Club. The meal is provided by the Food Bank, but we volunteers add the most important ingredient of all - a dash of ourselves.
What's the scoop?
Pittman Park volunteers staff the serving line for one week each quarter. Five of us arrive at the Boys and Girls Club at The Outreach Center (515 Denmark Street) at about 3:45 pm. The Food Bank delivers the meal, and we serve it up to about 150 hungry school kids. A little clean-up and we're usually out the door by 4:30.
The pay?
A free hairnet and plastic serving gloves, plus a chance to nourish a child with good food and a good spirit.
Can you give 45 minutes a few days a year to make a difference for children - and have a good time while you do it? Call now to add your name to the Kids Café volunteer list, and we'll contact you when it's our turn to serve.
