Missions

missionspic3.jpgOne stop in the Fellowship Hall at Pittman Park and it becomes apparent that this Church has a great love for Missions. As you look around and see the flags representing the many countries that teams from Pittman Park have traveled to during the years, you begin to appreciate the dedication of this congregation to serve our Lord not just within our own walls but outside the boundaries of the United States. Teams are made up of a diverse group of people that have a calling on their heart to step out of their comfort zones and serve others by giving of their own self. You don't have to know how to hammer a nail or change a bandage, we can teach you that. You just have to supply the love in your heart, God will take care of the rest.

Everyone on a team brings gifts and talents that are needed, respected and welcome. Believe me you are capable of serving on a Mission Team. The secret to Pittman Parks Team is that it's not just the people that board a plane to spend a week or more in service. It is everyone within our Church that supports this program with gifts, love and most importantly prayer.

missionspicture.jpgThere is a second part of Missions here at Pittman Park. In service we don't always travel thousands of miles away. We have many Mission projects that take place right here in Bulloch county. Wheelchair ramps to allow mobility to those that need help. Windows, doors and siding to help keep the cold from entering in on homes that need help. Assisting victims of house fires or being in partnership with smaller Churches that need assistance. Cleaning yards, raking leaves or sometimes just lending an ear and a comforting hug all fall under the Mission banner.

When storms such as Katrina struck the Gulf Coast or tornadoes ravaged Americus, Ga., teams immediately formed, loaded and traveled to these locations and many more during the past 15 years to help rebuild shattered lives. We are so blessed to in small ways be a blessing to others.

We are also proud that we helped birth a new ministry in the Dominican Republic as two members of our Church, Kim and Damon Bland, moved to the Dominican Republic to serve as full time Missionaries. Please visit their website at dominicanrepublicmissions.com to see the wonderful work they are doing. We miss them greatly but are so proud of their service to God.

Thank you for visiting with us today, please take the time to visit with Kim and Damon via their link and I hope that you will take a few additional minutes and watch the short video of a recent trip To Cuba. We hope you enjoy the smiles of the children, I know that I did.
